Everything you need to know to register for the 2024-25 season

WELCOME, ONE AND ALL: Orange CYMS Cricket Club will field teams in seniors, women's, juniors and Blasters cricket in 2024-25.

WHAT PROGRAMS AND TEAMS CAN I REGISTER FOR?

Orange CYMS Cricket Club has programs and teams that cater for all ages, genders and levels of ability.

  • Junior Blasters: Fun drills and games to build basic skills for those new to cricket. Aimed at kids aged 4-6. This season there will be groups run in Orange and Molong. Orange: 12 sessions will be held at Wade Park, running from 4pm-4.45pm on Mondays. The season will start on Monday 4 November, with a break over the summer holidays. Molong: 12 sessions will be held at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, running from 3.30pm-4.15pm on Thursdays. The season will start on Thursday 7 November, with a break over the summer holidays.

  • Master Blasters: Non-competitive, modified and safe matches for kids who have the ability to bowl with a straight arm and hit a moving ball. Aimed at kids aged 7-9. This season there will be matches played in Orange and Molong. Orange: 12 matches will be played at Wade Park, running from 4pm-5.15pm on Mondays. The season will start on Monday 4 November, with a break over the summer holidays. Molong: 12 matches will be played at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, running from 3.30pm-4.45pm on Thursdays. The season will start on Thursday 7 November, with a break over the summer holidays.

  • Juniors cricket: 20- or 25-over matches in age-group competitions. Aimed at kids aged 9-15 with some cricket experience. Under-11s are played from 4.30pm-6.30pm on Thursdays; under-12s through to under-16s are played from 8.30am-12pm on Saturdays. Matches are played in term 4 of 2024 and term 1 of 2025, with a break over the summer holidays. All teams have one training session per week, running for 60-90 minutes. Team coaches and parents will work out the day and time of training sessions.

  • Women's cricket: 14 Friday night social league matches played under modified and safe conditions, starting at 5.30pm. There will also be 4-5 competitive female T20 games on Sundays available for players to nominate for. There is one training session per week.

  • Seniors cricket: Matches of varying length played as part of graded competitions, with draws, ladders, finals and premierships. Eligibility starts at 13 years old for Centenary Cup, and 14 years old for First, Second and Third Grades. The season starts on Saturday 12 October for all grades. Matches are played on Saturday afternoons, starting at either 1pm or 1.30pm and concluding at about 6pm. There is one mandatory training session per week.


WHAT DOES REGISTRATION COST?

All registration costs are payable upfront and cover the entire season.

  • Junior Blasters and Master Blasters: $100

  • Juniors cricket: $150

  • Juniors cricket + seniors cricket (for kids aged 16 and younger): $280

  • Women's cricket: $180

  • Seniors cricket (for ages 18 and younger): $200

  • Full-time seniors cricket (ages 19 and older): $320

  • Casual seniors cricket: $150. Please note: Full-time cricketers are prioritised over casual cricketers in selecting teams


WHAT DO REGISTRATION PAYMENTS COVER?

  • Insurance for training and matches

  • Clothing (see below)

  • Fees for Orange District Cricket Association, NSW Cricket and Cricket Australia

  • Umpires fees

  • Equipment, including match balls

  • Costs associated with training at the Carl Sharpe Cricket Centre (indoor facility at Wade Park)

  • Costs for the club's season launch and end-of-season presentation


IS THERE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE?


All Junior Blasters, Master Blasters and Juniors players are eligible to use the new NSW Government Active Kids Voucher, valued at $50. There are two steps to using these vouchers:

2. Use your voucher on the last page of the registration process (outlined below)


The first 50 players registered for Blast cricket this season will receive a $50 registration refund, thanks to McDonald's Orange and Cowra. This money will be provided as a cash payment at the first session of the season.


CLOTHING

  • Junior Blasters are sent a BBL shirt and hat by Cricket Australia when they register, which are to be worn in the sessions. They can wear any shorts and joggers in their sessions.

  • Master Blasters are sent a BBL shirt and hat by Cricket Australia when they register. They will be provided with a white club shirt and a yellow club cap to wear in matches. They can wear any shorts and joggers in their matches.

  • New Juniors cricketers will be given a playing shirt and cap by Orange CYMS Cricket Club when they register. Returning juniors cricketers can wear the white playing shirt they wore last season or get a new one from the club if needed. All juniors cricketers will require white playing pants for matches, which can be purchased from the club or elsewhere.

  • New Women's cricketers will be provide with a playing shirt as part of their registration. Returning women's cricketers can wear the same shirts that were issued last season.

  • New Seniors cricketers will need to purchase a playing shirt, cap, training shirt and training shorts when they register, at a cost of $30. Returning seniors cricketers can wear these same items that were issued last season, or purchase new items from the club.

There is an assortment of quality, club-branded clothing available in a range of junior and senior sizes:

  • White playing pants

  • Wide-brim cricket hats

  • Formal polos (t-shirts)

  • Hoodies

  • Training singlets

All registered players will be contacted before the start of their seasons to make orders for these items.


EQUIPMENT

  • Junior Blasters and Master Blasters will be sent a selection of cricket gear by Cricket Australia, including bats, balls, hats and drink bottles. All other equipment is provided.

  • Juniors cricketers require their own equipment: bats, pads, gloves, helmets, protectors and cricket bags. The club has a small selection of new and good-condition used gear that can be loaned to players. Wicket-keeping gloves and pads are provided by the club.

  • Women's cricketers will be provided all equipment for training and playing in the Friday night social league. Those playing in the competitive T20 matches will need a bat, helmet, pads, gloves, thigh pad and abdominal protector. The club has a small selection of new and good-condition used gear that can be loaned to players, but players are encouraged to source their own.

  • Senior cricketers require their own equipment: bats, pads, gloves, helmets, protectors and cricket bags. The club has a small selection of new and good-condition used gear that can be loaned to players.


COACHES AND ASSISTANTS

All Junior Blasters sessions will be overseen by supervisors. Master Blasters and Juniors teams will have coaches, managers and scorers.

These roles are filled by parents/guardians of players who want to help, as well as senior cricketers from the club.

  • Free registration for parents/guardians of players who coach Master Blasters or Juniors teams

  • Subsidised registration for our senior players who coach Master Blasters or Juniors teams

  • Payments for Junior Blasters assistants

  1. All new registrations need to start by creating a Cricket I.D. here: https://cricket-id.cricket.com.au. Please note: if you are registering a child then the Cricket I.D needs to be created in your name, not the child's.
