Orange CYMS Cricket Club is proud to announce its Executive for the 2025-26 season following its Annual General Meeting on Monday 7 July.
CYMS will once again be led by President Ben McNiven, who will guide the club into another exciting season of growth, improvement and success.
Top of the list of goals is defending the club's third consecutive Orange District Cricket Association (ODCA) Club Championship and, in doing so, converting regular season success into premierships.
"Winning the McCarthy Cup again last season was a testament to the depth and consistency across our senior grades. But we’re hungry to turn those finals appearances into premierships. That’s the next step for us,” McNiven said.
In 2024-25, all seven senior teams qualified for finals, with Third Grade's CYMS Lions and Second Grade reaching their respective grand finals.
Despite falling short of titles, the club’s overall performance solidified its standing as one of the strongest in the Central West region.
"We’ve got the talent and the culture to achieve success. And with Riley Krause as new Men's Club Captain, we have strong leadership to go with it. Now we just need to work hard to convert those opportunities into silverware,” McNiven added.
The club’s women’s cricket program will continue to thrive, with the primary goal of defending the maiden ODCA Women’s T20 premiership secured last season.
Women's Club Captain Jo Ferguson, along with leaders Stacey Cornish, Pip Elmes and Addie Johnson, will work to ensure that title is defended while expanding the player and team numbers in the ever-popular Friday Night Social Women's League.
“Our women’s program is a source of great pride for the club. We've been blessed with some great players and leaders in the first couple of years of women's cricket in Orange, and so have a great launching pad to grow further, which is our aim” McNiven said.
The club's junior cricket program is also likely to expand, building on the seven teams who played in the Orange District Junior Cricket Association's under-11s to under-16s competitions last season. The return of the 2024-25 under-16s premiers will especially be worth watching.
The club’s Blast Cricket program—which introduces children aged 4-8 to the cricket via skills and modified matches—will once again be delivered on Monday afternoons at Wade Park. Last season it was one of the largest in regional Australia, with 145 participants across Orange and Molong last season.
Off the field, CYMS is focused on strengthening relationships with its valued sponsors, ensuring they receive meaningful exposure and engagement as acknowledgement for their generous support of the players and teams.
“Our sponsors are vital to everything we do. We’re committed to delivering value and showcasing their support throughout the season,”McNiven said.
With a strong Executive supported by a great general committee, a strong player base across ages and competitions, and generous assistance from terrific sponsors, Orange CYMS Cricket Club is poised for another successful season.
